Interesting. This does not strike me as the kind of car that would be offered with a manual. I always mentally categorized these are more of a cushy cruiser kind of convertible.

Oh yeah. I test drove one when new . Terrible poseur car. Shifting best described as stirring a bucket of ice cubes with a broom handle. Not fun to drive in any sense. Got a used 968 instead.

From what I understand, there has never really been a good manual in any Mercedes in the last 40+ years , at least not from the factory. I have seen a W124 500E that was converted, and Tavarish is putting one from a BMW in his SL55, and those are probably OK since they’re done by enthusiasts that give a damn about shifter feel.

I just hired a guy today who drives an 80s Mercedes S class. He was a mechanic but said that job was getting too hard on him physically. It’s his family’s, and he just drove it here from Massachusetts, and it’s his family’s only car. It’ll be nice having some one else in the store who can check people’s oil, and fill their tires. We’re not a full service station but you’d be surprised how many old timers still ask for help with stuff like that.
